A Metal Shingle Built to Give Rollformers a Direct Path into Residential Roofing
Bloomfield, Iowa — July 2026: Coil Spot today announced the launch of LUXR, a metal shingle system designed to be stocked and installed with the same ease as asphalt, and engineered to last several times longer. LUXR will be available to qualified rollformers, roofing suppliers, and contractors across the United States in three colors: Textured Charcoal, Textured Matte Black, and Textured Burnished Slate.
The U.S. residential roofing market has been dominated by asphalt shingles for decades, even as much of the developed world has moved on. Asphalt shingles typically require replacement every 10 to 20 years and account for an estimated 10-12 million tons of roofing waste sent to U.S. landfills annually. Whereas Metal roofing is infinitely recyclable!
Metal has long been the durable alternative, but the traditional process has carried its own barrier. Standing-seam panels and conventional metal roofs require precise measurement weeks in advance, rollforming at a facility that may be hours from the jobsite, and a complete redo of the production run if anything is mismeasured, damaged, or short.
About LUXR
LUXR is a metal shingle system developed by Coil Spot to give rollformers, dealers, and contractors a direct path into the residential roofing market — combining the durability and longevity of metal with the ease of ordering, stocking, and installation that has historically belonged to asphalt.
LUXR is built to break that cycle.
“For years, rollformers have watched the residential market go to asphalt because the logistics of traditional metal roofing made it almost impossible to compete on the same terms,” said Darin Westhoff President of Coil Spot. “LUXR was built to fix that. A rollformer or roofing supplier can stock LUXR, sell it through their existing dealer network, manufacture their own trims to go with it, and supply the fasteners and accessories. That’s a complete residential roofing package — shipping from their own facility, not from a factory six hours away.”
LUXR opens three revenue streams at once:
- Profit on the shingle itself, stocked and sold like any other line
- Profit on matching trim, manufactured in-house from the same coil program
- Pull-through on fasteners, underlayment, and installation accessories sold alongside
The product installs with familiar tools and methods, shortening the learning curve for contractors who haven’t worked extensively in metal and removing the field-measurement risk that drives crews back to asphalt.
“Asphalt is a temporary solution,” Westhoff said. “Ten to twenty years and it’s in a landfill. The roofing industry can do better than that — and the roofing suppliers and installers who move on this first are the ones who own the residential metal market for the next decade.”
About Coil Spot
Most rollformers run ten different suppliers to put one residential roof together. Screws from one. Soffit from another. Underlayment, foam closures, slit coils — all from somewhere else. Ten phone calls. Ten invoices. Ten chances for something to be missing the morning the crew shows up.
Coil Spot puts it all on one truck. Metal coil. Slit coils. LUXR metal shingles. Soffit. Screws. Foam closures. Underlayment. One supplier. One delivery. One invoice. Based in Bloomfield Iowa! Learn more at coilspot.com.
